About Sukiyaki
Sukiyaki began in Fuengirola in 2017 with a clear idea: to offer a different way to enjoy sushi and Japanese cuisine. From the start, we chose a system that allowed every guest to order from their table, receive freshly prepared dishes and order their favourites again throughout the meal.
Our first restaurant opened on the Fuengirola seafront promenade, facing the sea. That was the beginning of a story that has grown over the years and now continues in Los Boliches, where our second restaurant is also on the seafront.
A different way to enjoy a sushi buffet
When Sukiyaki opened its doors in 2017, the concept was still new in Fuengirola. Rather than a traditional self-service buffet, orders were placed from the table and each dish was brought directly to the guest.
That system remains part of the way we work. You can browse the menu, choose what you fancy and order more rounds during your meal. Dishes are prepared as orders arrive, making the experience more comfortable and closer to dining in a conventional restaurant.
This became our approach to the sushi buffet in Fuengirola, with service designed for every table to enjoy the menu at its own pace.
From the first few months, many guests highlighted this way of ordering and receiving their food. Over time, it has become one of Sukiyaki’s most recognisable features.
On the Fuengirola seafront since 2017
Our story is closely connected to the Fuengirola seafront promenade. We opened our first restaurant there and continue to welcome local guests and visitors to the city.
The location is part of the experience. Fuengirola has a strong connection with its seafront, and it was important for us to grow while keeping that connection.
Our menu centres on sushi and Japanese cuisine, with a variety of options that allow guests to combine dishes and try different preparations in the same meal.
The buffet format lets us offer that variety without asking guests to choose just one dish. Each table can order, share and choose again what they enjoyed most.
Technology as part of our service
Technology has been part of Sukiyaki since our early years.
As early as 2017, orders could be placed using a tablet at the table. Guests could browse the menu and send their selections directly, helping service run more smoothly.
Over time, we have introduced new solutions. These include our waiter robot, which helps deliver some orders and has become one of the restaurant’s most recognisable features.
These tools help us organise service and give each table more independence to enjoy the experience.
Sukiyaki in Los Boliches too
A new chapter began in 2025 with the opening of our second restaurant in Los Boliches, one of Fuengirola’s best-known neighbourhoods.
The new restaurant is also on the Fuengirola seafront promenade, allowing us to keep one of the features that has always been connected with Sukiyaki: enjoying Japanese cuisine close to the sea.
With this opening, we brought our approach closer to guests looking for sushi in Los Boliches, as well as those who already knew our first restaurant.
The new space keeps the same buffet concept with ordering from the table, continuing the approach Sukiyaki began in Fuengirola years earlier.
Sukiyaki today
Today, we have two restaurants on the seafront, one in Fuengirola and one in Los Boliches, and we continue to work with the same idea that inspired us in 2017.
We want every visit to be an opportunity to discover new dishes, order familiar favourites again and enjoy Japanese cuisine without rushing.
After several years as part of the city’s dining scene, we continue to welcome first-time visitors and guests who have trusted us for a long time.
